That’s right, everyone! Next week, it is all about new.

Wil Wright enters a new decade of life. And you will receive 2 brand new senryu releases, the first of this new decade. Here are the details:

SENRYU ON DAYTROTTER - 1/20

On January 20th, the center day of Wil Wright’s childhood calendar (his birthday) Daytrotter.com is releasing the session that Senryu recorded with them in the fall. If you are unfamiliar with Daytrotter, it is easily one of the greatest and most amazing things happening on the American Music landscape and we were just so honored to get to go. We follow in the footsteps of bands like Wire, of Montreal, Daniel Johnston and so many amazing others. So, ON JANUARY 20TH, GO TO DAYTROTTER.COM AND DOWNLOAD OUR SESSION. IT IS FREE AND EASY AND YOU WILL LOVE IT. We COULD tell you what songs you’re getting, but we’ll keep it a birthday surprise. You should just know that it is 4 songs, and each of them came from a different Senryu album. At least one of them will probably be one of your favorites. Hey everyone. We hope that you’ve set this year off right.

We spent our holidays traveling. WW on tour and visiting sharks, Steven in Michigan, and the brothers on their Island, AKA Puerto Rico. We are all rested up and fed and recharged and ready to start the long and exciting process of releasing our beloved new full length album into your hands. We hope you are as excited as we are. Here is the immediate news:

SENRYU with Teenage Love!! JANUARY 9. PILOT LIGHT. 10PM.

We are opening for Knoxville Legends TEENAGE LOVE. We are also filming performance footage for one of our new video projects, so PLEASE gather up all of your nearest and dearest and come make this first show of 2010 a big one. We will be beginning our set at 10:30pm sharp, so please plan on getting yourself and your part of our party to the venue by 10pm. We’re so excited to see you. It’s been so long.

One of 2009’s biggest moments for us was going to Rock Island, IL and recording a session for Daytrotter.com and that session will finally be released on WIL WRIGHT’S BIRTHDAY, AKA January 20th. Hey, you holiday maniacs.

We are very happy to give you a peek at our next step. Last night, we finished the mastering process on a brand new, full-length Senryu LP. It took us 1 month to the DAY to record, mix, and master it. It was made under the guidance of sound engineer and photographer extraordinaire (and Knoxvillian by way to Los Angeles) Zoe-Ruth Erwin. Any time you see a “better than we actually look” picture, you can bet that she is the one who snapped it. She worked furiously on this project, as did the rest of us who performed on it as senryu, guest vocalists, choir and orchestra. These are going to be crazy days, full of exciting developments as we get closer to the release. This is going to be our most multi-dimensional release ever. We are taking very reckless steps to make sure that this album’s unveiling is as fun and wide-reaching for you as it can be.

We will be posting photos of the recording process periodically here.

The first single, “Obsess Much” will be released on January 22nd to radio and the internet, so mark your calendar. The album will be hot on it’s heels.

Major News On the Way

Hey there, babies.

We’ve been working so, so hard. We are in the closing stages of recording our brand new, FULL LENGTH album. We’ve been toiling under the talented eyes and ears of Knoxville via Los Angeles transplant and sound engineer extraordinaire, Zoe-Ruth Erwin. In the last 3 weeks, we’ve done about 3 months of work, in a race to finish the album by Christmas.

In the next week, we’ll be making major announcements about our future and details surrounding this album, it’s lead off single, a specific long-awaited live recording, and oh, so many other things. Thanks for being patient with us. We’ve been teaching and touring and….whatever Dan does. Building robots? We’ve been busy, and we appreciate you sticking with us. It’s going to totally pay off, and SO much sooner than you think.

Are you excited? You should be.

We in Senryu owe a very big thanks. A couple of them.

Recently, we were invited by Wayne Bledsoe to come and perform again on his “All Over The Road” radio show. We had done it before. But this time, he wanted to step it up a little. Wayne proposed that we leave our acoustic sets (which are awkward for us anyways) behind us and bring our full-tilt show to the tiny WDVX radio booth.

So we did.

We hand-picked an audience of long-timers and threw a little party. It was one of the best nights in Senryu’s history and we want to thank Wayne, WDVX, and all of our magnificent Knoxvillian friends for accepting our invitations and for showing up ready to put a donk on it. The setlist went as follows:

We have been both praised and criticized for our decision to make our entire recorded catalog free. We completely understand both. The fact of the matter is that we believe that if a person wants to hear our songs badly enough, they are able to for free because the internet makes it so. We just prefer giving our music directly to people, so that we know that they have the highest quality, the album art and credits, and it keeps our relationship face to digital face. We are just happy that people love us, and we don’t mind passing on the microscopic profiteering. If people want to help support us, they can and do come to our shows, buy our posters and shirts and books. As long as people love our albums, as far as we’re concerned, they already own them anyways. Enjoy.

Welcome to our new online orphanage. Can you stand it?

We’ve been terrifically busy, having just released a new EP

and remix EP and played a really awesome run of shows.

Now, we’re in the kitchen again, but in the meantime, we
